Idealised design of paradise

Lavazza Design Paradiso is based on certain key values, that re-interprete the history of design and the principles of the company’s advertising. Communicating these values to the 10 designers who best represent the Italian youth scene was not difficult. Perhaps because Lavazza with 114 years of history has collaborated with the greatest designers of the time, from Armando Testa to Ferran Adrià. Perhaps because the values of Lavazza are now so much a part of the Italian cultural DNA that further introductions are not required. It was enough to bring the 10 best young designers together around a table, with photos by Helmut Newton and Ferdinando Scianna, a life-sized version of the Paulista character and a Carmencita cafetière by Zanuso, to open the doors to paradise.

Design makes paradise become reality

Each designer threw themselves into the task; after little more than a month the group met back around the same table, this time submersed in prototypes in paper or silicone, of resin or polystyrene. And so the most complicated phase of the project began: choosing the design projects that were to become products in the collection. The Lavazza corner of domestic paradise slowly took shape: made not only of cups, spoons and cafetières, but also lamps, armchairs, and tins. A really and truly heavenly line that encapsulates in its very essence the magic and fun of the Lavazza design tradition.
